Trainings

My interactive and hands-on Professional Scrum and Kanban trainings help teams deliver better products with more value for their customers. I prefer working with people in person, which is why my public trainings are usually held on-site. Of course, I also offer in-house trainings - both on-site and online.

Public Training Dates

I regularly offer all trainings as public sessions you can sign up for, but only in German.

All trainings - and customized workshops - are also available as in-house events tailored to your team and held at your location.

In the Professional Scrum Product Owner training, participants explore both the strategic and tactical aspects of the Product Owner’s responsibilities.

  • Agile Product Development: why Scrum focuses on ‘product’ and how to plan across different levels in agile product management

  • Release Planning: how to reliably plan releases in a complex environment

Professional Scrum Product Owner - Advanced (PSPO-A)

The Professional Scrum Product Owner - Advanced training builds on the PSPO course and provides a deeper look into the six stances of a Product Owner:

  • The Visionary: how to keep the big picture in mind and continuously guide your product in the right direction
  • The Customer Representative: how to represent your customers and maximize value through your product
  • The Experimenter: how to run experiments to test your hypotheses and find the right direction for your product quickly and cost-effectively
  • The Decision Maker: how to make data-driven, transparent decisions that increase the likelihood of product success
  • The Collaborator: how to work with the rest of the organization to create value for both your customers and your company
  • The Influencer: how to align stakeholders behind a shared vision and use communication and negotiation skills to steer your product in the right direction

Applying Professional Kanban (APK)

Applying Professional Kanban introduces Kanban and flow-based product development. Participants learn how to analyze, visualize, and optimize their own workflow using flow metrics.

  • Theory and Practices of Kanban: what is Kanban and which practices help optimize the flow of value?
  • Applying Kanban in Practice: how does Kanban work in real life and what insights can we gain from flow metrics?
  • Visualizing Workflows: how to analyze and visualize your workflow and enrich it with relevant information that’s essential for good flow
  • Optimizing Workflows: how to use flow metrics to improve flow in your process

Applying Metrics for Predictability (AMP)

Applying Metrics for Predictability provides a deep dive into flow metrics and how to use them to answer the most important customer question: “When will it be done?”

  • Foundations of Forecasting: what’s the difference between planning and forecasting, and what makes forecasts reliable?
  • Forecasting for Multiple Items: how to make trustworthy forecasts for a collection of work items
  • Forecasting for Single Items: how to forecast the completion of a single work item
  • Trusting Your Forecasts: how to use flow-metric-based charts to assess whether your process is predictable and your forecasts are reliable

Applying Professional Scrum for Software Development (APS-SD)

In the Applying Professional Scrum for Software Development training, participants use Scrum to build real working software. The training focuses heavily on the practical application of Scrum in software development and is ideal for Scrum teams who develop software and are either just starting or want to reboot their Scrum practice.

  • Scrum Framework: what are the elements of Scrum and how do they work together?
  • Product Backlog Refinement: how does backlog refinement work in theory and in practice?
  • Quality Software: how can we improve and maintain the perceived (external) quality of our software product?
  • DevOps: what is DevOps, how does it help in software development, and how does it fit with Scrum?
  • Emergent Architecture: how does software architecture work in a constantly changing environment, and how can Scrum teams take ownership to meet the Product Owner’s quality goals?
  • Quality Code: how can we sustainably improve code quality to reliably deliver great software in short cycles?
  • Sprints: participants apply their learnings from the topics above in three two-hour Sprints, delivering working software.
